As One Ensemble is an AOH vocal performance group for 3rd-6th graders, ages 8-12. Older AOH children build friendships & confidence while learning a piece performed with AOH Vocal Performance Groups at the end of the session. They have a blast building more intermediate vocal skills and more complex ear training, solfège, folk songs, sight-reading, musical patterns & rhythm games. As One Ensemble singers work on a community outreach project offered at the end of the session.

Fall 2024 Schedule: Weekly rehearsals begin August 21st: Wednesdays Singing with Katie 4:00-5:00 (Classroom 4 Alton Hall), Theater Games with Billy (Stage in Alton Hall) 5:00-5:30, Bells with Nick Newkirk (Sanctuary) 5:30-6:00 through December 11. $69/month. Sunday Performance: We will also have optional monthly performances for UMCWV with secular song selections. Our first performance for UMCWV is Sunday Aug 25, when we will sing “Consider Yourself,” from Oliver.

*Theater Games and bells are extra optional musical opportunities: As One Ensemble is affiliated with the Tintinnabulator bell choir (grades 2-6), offered through UMCWV. Their rehearsals follow As One Ensemble rehearsals, from 5:30-6:00. The bell choir is directed by the awesome Nick Newkirk. Bells provide an opportunity for rich hands-on learning. Each bell has a specific note, so children learn to read music in time, which requires the learning of basic rhythm & music reading skills.

In addition to being excellent for musicality, bells help in maintaining coordination & focus, & are a fantastic opportunity for teamwork & bonding, as the choir must play as a unit. The Tintinnabulators perform several times per year.

The people of UMCWV are always delighted see the Tintinnabulators perform!

For more information about the Tintinnabulator bell choir, please contact Nick Newkirk at (818) 581-1495.

AOH also proudly offers exciting extension workshops & fun activities on Saturday morning from 9:45-10:45am, where performers rotate: community outreach projects, workshops in acting/improv, dance, ukulele, guitar & other, in-depth vocal training, theory extension & game days.
